Engines and transmissions
Horsepower is the peak. Torque is what moves a trailer from a stop. Both are cited per engine, per year.
A nameplate can offer a turbo V6, a naturally aspirated V8, a diesel, a hybrid, and an off-road engine in the same year. Each one has its own tow and payload cell. The 2026 F-150 chart’s cited engine maxima run from 8,200 pounds on the Raptor to 13,500 on the 3.5L EcoBoost with Tow/Haul and the Max Tow Axle.
Transmission cooling is why a tow package exists. The gearset, the cooler, and the programmed tow mode are part of the rating. A transmission that is not named in the source is left blank rather than assumed to be the same as last year.
Output figures on this site are the ones printed with that year’s towing guide. A mid-year horsepower revision belongs to the years the source covers, not to the whole generation.
