Gas, diesel, hybrid, and electric
The fuel changes the weight of the truck, the torque curve, the range, and sometimes whether a hitch type is recommended at all.
Diesels in heavy-duty trucks are where the gooseneck numbers climb, and they add curb weight. A gas V8 can win a conventional cell or a payload cell on a lighter truck. Compare the configuration, not the badge.
Hybrids such as the F-150 PowerBoost publish their own tow figure. Ford’s 2026 guide lists 12,400 pounds for PowerBoost with Tow/Haul and the Max Tow Axle, while a Ford.com specification page has also shown 11,600. Both stay visible. Neither is applied to a different year.
Electric pickups in this catalog — Lightning, Silverado EV, Sierra EV, Hummer EV, R1T, and Cybertruck — get the same rule. A cited year keeps its number. An uncited year, including Silverado EV and Sierra EV until a chart is transcribed, stays empty. Range while towing is a separate fact from the peak tow rating, and it is not invented here.
