Trims, packages, and configurations

Trim is a price ladder. Configuration is the combination that earns a cell on the towing chart.

A trim name such as XLT, LT, or Laramie rarely is the thing the chart sorts by. The chart sorts by engine, cab, bed or wheelbase, drive type, axle ratio, and tow package. Two Lariats can sit in different cells.

Maximum towing and maximum payload are often different trucks. The diesel that wins the trailer number is heavier, so a gas truck with a lighter curb weight can win payload. Publish both, and say which truck each number belongs to.

Off-road packages frequently give rating back. A 2026 Colorado ZR2 is cited at 6,000 pounds conventional and the Bison at 5,500, while a WT with the Advanced Trailering Package is cited at 7,700. The same engine, a different use.
