Pin weight
The bed load from a fifth-wheel or gooseneck.
Fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers put about 15 percent of their loaded weight on the pin or ball, according to Ford's 2026 guides. That is higher than a conventional tongue, and it sits in the bed ahead of or over the rear axle.
A truck can be under its gooseneck trailer rating and still be out of payload once the pin, passengers, and toolbox are added. The 2026 F-250 chart also shows fifth-wheel and gooseneck as different numbers on the same truck.
